This ride takes Highway 145 south towards Lizardhead (see description). Upon arriving at the top of the pass, proceed down the backside of the hill. The upcoming portion of highway is a slight downhill, which gives one the impression of being much stronger than they really are. Should your comrades be with you, form a paceline and practice your team time trial formation because this is the best stretch of highway for such purposes.
Sprint for the Rico sign; bragging rights for groups only, then enjoy some homemade carrot cake and espresso at the Coffee Shack. If they are closed, fall back on the gas station diet right next door.
On the return journey pray for a tail wind, otherwise, get ready to pay for every pedal stroke you had for free on the way there. Climbing Lizardhead from this side is a bit easier, and from the top you should easily find your way back home.
